Thunderstruck II is one of the most popular slot games developed. The game, released by MicroGaming in 2010, is a sequel to the original Thunderstruck. MicroGaming uses its Viper software to bring the game to Android tablets and iPads as well as PC’s and Macs. The game offers no traditional pay lines but does offer 243 ways to win. Thunderstruck 2 is an online slot based on the theme of Norse mythology and Nordic Gods such as Thor, Valkyrie, Loki, and Valhalla. Some of the characters are obviously recognizable from current movies; however, the game is not officially linked to any movie. The game features an amazing soundtrack but as it is now almost ten years old some of the graphics and animations may seem a little outdated.

The new updated version has no pay lines at all and relies on the 243 ways concept so the player only has to land several identical symbols on consecutive reels in order to win and the symbols don’t need to be in a particular line either.

The main symbols of the slot are the Norse Gods, Thor, Odin, Loki and Valkyrie along with Thor’s hammer, the castle, the ram, the Thunderstruck II logo and traditional card icons including King, Queen, Jack and Ace. Thor is the highest winning symbol, get five Thor symbols and the player will be awarded with 500 coins.   

The Thunderstruck II logo is the wild symbol and replaces all symbols other than Thor’s hammer symbol, which acts as the scatter symbol, which then unlocks bonus features within the game such as three of Thor’s hammer symbols will allow the player to enter the ‘Great Hall of Spins’ where the player can get free spins with a number of different multipliers.

The number of free spins increase on the number of times you enter the hall, the levels you climb and which symbol you get, for example, Valkyrie will award ten free spins with a multiplier of five and the chance to retrigger, Loki will award fifteen spins with possible wilds if the hall is entered more than five times and Odin will give twenty free spins with the Wild Raven feature which can turn symbols into either a multiplier of two or three. Two ravens will achieve a multiplier of six. If the player enters the hall more than fifteen times they get Thor spins of 25 with multipliers of five. Unlock all the levels then the player can choose the bonus round they wish to play on further visits to the game.

The Wildstorm is another wild and features Thor appearing across all the reels in a flash of lightening offering one free spin during which any of the five reels can will turn wild making it an easy win. 

Thunderstruck II isn’t a progressive slot machine but doesn’t really need to be with its exciting 243 ways to win concept and its bonus features and its wild symbols.
